MADISON HIGH CLASS OF 1961

Saturday, July 15th from 1:00 until Midnight!

PLEASE COME, IT WON'T BE NEARLY AS MUCH FUN WITHOUT YOU AND BESIDES WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO THAT IS BETTER THAN SEEING OLD FRIENDS ON A SATURDAY?
REUNIONS ARE TRULY A MORE THE MERRIER EVENT.
So, don't spoil it for the rest of us by not attending.

So, here is the story, I have backed off the reunion committee because of plans and attidudes with which I disagree. However, that certainly doesn't mean that I won't attend the reunion. I love these things as most of you know. It will be lots of fun because it always is when we get together - all of us seasoned classmates. I will keep up this webpage and add details as I learn them and clarify many questions you may have.

PORTLAND AIRPORT INN, 7101 NE 82nd Ave. You can reach this by going north on 82nd as to the airport and then turning left and coming back to it on the other side of the divided road or you can go north from Columbia Blvd. on 80th and come into it from the back. The banquet room is in the back on the south side and faces a large grassy courtyard. Parking should be available near that courtyard.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RENT A ROOM rooms have been reserved at a special rate for our reunion. When you call 503-255-6722, be sure to mention the reunion. Rooms are $69 and $89 depending on whether you want a newly renovated room or don't give a darn and want to spend your money other ways. Just so you know, the hotel has an outdoor pool. If you would like to share a room, please let me know and I can put you together to save some bucks. Email me as soon as possible CLICK HERE I will be staying there, even though I am not from out of town, just for the convenience of it (many of the committee members will be staying there Saturday night, also). I will be there both Friday and Saturday nights.

THE COST is $25.00 per person if paid by June 30th or (and this escapes me) $30 at the door. Please send your check payable to Reunion to Fran Shelton, 7365 SW Kimberly Ct., Beaverton, OR 97008 as soon as possible to save that $5 for the auction or something. Or come up with a real good excuse as to why your payment is late.

ACTIVITIES (THE FUN PART) The great thing about this location is the courtyard. Starting at one in the afternoon, activities will be outside in the courtyard, unless we have the Portland drizzle and then there is a large covered patio. Because it will start outside, I would suggest CASUAL. That to me is comfortable but with the caveat that it is also something that makes you look and feel your best. So you figure it out. But remember, we are all in our sixties and none of us will look like Angelina or Brad.
AUCTION Seriously, give this some thought, it could be lots of fun. Please let Carole Schooling Modjeski know what you would put up for auction by emailing her HERE It can be a thing or an activity you donate - give it some thought but contact Carole so she can get it on the schedule.
There will be photos and you should plan to be there for the group photo which will probably be around 5 o'clock. There should be plenty of food to take you through the day but if you end up hungry, the hotel has a restaurant.
Dancing, well of course, there will be dancing to the oldies!
Doug Hawley will be Master of Ceremonies for the day and that alone will make the party, so bring your sense of humor. If you have some thoughts or talent (?) you would like to present to the class, please contact Doug HERE
Sounds like eleven hours is a long time, but we got input that told us people wanted time for real conversations - this should do it.

SUNDAY PICNIC in the park. I would suggest that those with a grade school list, contact your people and try to set up something. For details on the picnic, please go to the OTHER website HERE

GOLF If you would be interested in playing golf on any of these days, Larry Davis and I am sure Mel Davis, also, would be excited to arrange something. Please contact Larry HERE.

FRIDAY, JUNE 14TH The day before the 60th Birthday Party, several of us went on a tour of some of Oregon's most beautiful wineries. It was so much fun that I am thinking of putting it together again. Or, perhaps you would prefer a brew pub tour or maybe you have another idea. If you're coming from out of town and will be here on Friday or you if live here and just want to make a big deal of this special weekend, we can get together on Friday to do something, even if it is just dinner, cocktails or perhaps a local event that is sure to be happening. Let me know if you would be interested in a Friday activity and we'll put it together.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? Email me, julane@madgrads.us and come back often as I will add new information as I receive it or as you give me your thoughts. I always want your thoughts.
