Since we will all turn SIXTY in 2003 we need a great party! Something big and long lasting would be most appropriate for our advance to another decade. In fact we need several parties!

Dress as you like.I wrote that but still get questions and here is what I usually reply to them: first choice - dress in whatever makes you feel your best (if that means also looking your best, then great), I also write that I believe a special party deserves more than jeans! For women, I would suggest an outfit (we know what that is - something that was meant to be together) or dress or depending on the weather a sun dress. For guys, I am trusting that you will also make this a special occasion and dress in what still makes you look good at sixty! A lot will depend on the weather but hey, it will be August. We will be mostly outside (the best place to be) and covered. A marvelous buffet dinner will be served. Yes, there will be some Vegan food. Drinks are on your own. There is parking available just south of the restaurant in the lot under the Hawthorne Bridge – it is not free but very reduced after 5:00. If you park on the street, remember to feed the meter until 6:00. The restaurant is just one block from the Max line, if you’d like to take it. This is my favorite location in the whole city and I know we will all have a marvelous time enjoying it and the wonderful company. If you loved the 40th reunion, come to this! If you missed the 40th reunion, come to this! It may be the last get-together until 2011!

Jerry Lyons has already emailed me that he will be coming. I hope more teachers will celebrate with us. The cost is $25.00 per person and includes gratuity. You must pay in advance for this. The Portland Spirit river cruise boat is right next door and has dancing cruises in the summer from about 11:00 to 1:30 a.m. which may interest those who still think (and feel) young. ON THURSDAY, JULY 31: We are planning a bus trip to Mt. St. Helens. The cost will be $10.00 plus the park entrance fee, which is $3.00 per adult & $1.00 per child over 4. This might just be the perfect occasion to show off your grandchildren - everyone is welcome. Please send the $10.00 per person bus fee and you can pay the entrance fee the day of the trip. Feel free to call me if you have any questions (503) 913-8064. This trip will last from about 9 – 5 with an optional dinner at the pick up point. If you pay and sign up for this, you will be called about the location for the bus and the exact time schedule. This is a new interpretive center and it is really close to the crater. A great trip – sign up!

ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 1: Wine Tasting tour by bus to a few of Oregon’s most beautiful wineries. This will be just $10.00 per person and will be adults only. Yes, you will be able to drink your purchases on the bus. No children for this tour. You may also call me with questions on this. This trip will last from about 9 – 5 with an optional dinner at the pick up point. If you pay and sign up for this you will be called about the location for the bus and the exact time schedule. This will be just tons of fun and the price is terrific. The cost will include snacks if enough of us go.

A cruise on September 29th, leaving from Los Angeles for 4 nights, starting at about $260, is also scheduled. Plan your vacation time now and let me know me if you are interested in this one. We will have more information about it available at the August 2 party.

When you send your payment for the events you would like to attend, please include the following information: Your name (including maiden name) for your name tag(s), your telephone number, which events you are paying for and if you have an email address where you can be reached.

Rest assured, that if something happens and you won’t be able to attend, your money wIll be refunded up until 15 days before the event. However, please don’t wait to send your payment, as we can’t do the planning without some estimates. Recapping, it is $25.00 per person for the dinner party on Aug. 2, and $10.00 per person for each of the bus tours.
