GREGORY HEIGHTS SCHOOL

CLASSMATES OF 1957 UPDATE

PIZZA PARTY

To all of our GHS Classmates of 1957:  We hope this announcement finds you enjoying good health and prosperity.  At our class reunion Bill Maggs made the suggestion that there be an annual or semi-annual informal gathering for those who wished to keep in touch.  We had a big response in favor, so a reservation for the banquet room at a local pizza restaurant has been made for Saturday, March 22nd.  (Does it seem that 6 more months will have gone by that fast?)  It will be a no-host casual gathering.

PLACE:                 Stark Street Pizza – Located at the corner of SE 92nd Avenue and SE Stark Street in Portland.

TIME:                    Between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  Just stop in anytime.

ONE LAST THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL REUNION COMMITTEE

Appreciation was given at our reunion to the group that made it all happen.  After the reunion at Gregory Heights, a few classmates continued on at a local hamburger stand.  (How many of you remember Jim Dandy Drive-In, located across from the old Sandy Boulevard Drive-In Theatre?)  Amongst other conversation, we found that the committee didn’t just simply get permission from the school itself.  There were liability issues from the School District that had to be resolved.  And permits.  And separate janitorial issues.  And just prior to the reunion taking place, the Portland School District decided that as a cost-cutting measure they would lay off their entire janitorial staff and change to a contract service.  The committee had to scramble at the last minute to deal with that change.  And last, but not least, the unbelievable amount of hours put in for research to locate our classmates.  So, for one last time, thanks to the original committee members for an outstanding job well done.  You really made it happen.

A QUICK SURVEY

This flyer has been mailed to all of our classmates because we would like to take a quick survey from everyone.  Many classmates, as well as the original committee members, were just absolutely amazed at the turnout and success of our reunion.  The original committee had decided not to wait for any specific year, but rather to have it as soon as possible.  In view of the tremendous success of the event, the question has come up.  Are we going to have a true “50 year” class reunion in 2007?  So if you are not coming to the pizza party, would you please take a moment and relay your thoughts to us about a 50 year reunion.  Thanks in advance for your response.  It is appreciated!
