I lost track of this class, when I changed Inernet companies. I am still alive and kicking and playing racketball with Dennis Getch. I now live at King City with my wife Julie. We are enjoying life, but we do keep too busy. Feel free to contact me as I would enjoy hearing from everyone in my favorite class. I am getting ready for my 60th reunion this year. See you soon Jerry Lyons.

After High School I went to PSU where I got a BA in Arts and Letters and an MA in Theatre. Was a TV Producer Director for several years with local PBS station before starting my own business. Thirty six years owning and operating my video production business. Produced videos for business and travel documentaries for A and E, PBS, The Discovery Channel, and The Learning Channel. Just recently sold my business to my employees. Also did a lot of talent work inlcuding eight years as the Phantom Restaurant Reviewer for KGW TV's old PM Magazine/Good Evening show. Currently at work as producer on a one and one half hour feature documentary for theatrical release.
Re-married 13 years now. I have two children, a son, and a step daughter. My son is a career coast guard officer and has three sons of his own now. he lives in New Orleans. My daughter is here and is single.
My wife and I travel a lot. Last year we went to New Zealand and Australia, year before that, Italy. Going to Belgium, Germany, France, and Spain in October of this year. Some travel for fun, some for work.
Married
Update: After more than 40 years of producing/directing/writing video productions I finally retired and we moved to the SW Washington coast in 2007. It's strange not to be an Oregonian, but we are adjusting. We built a home on Willapa Bay (the bay on the east side of the Long Beach pennisula). It is quiet, the air is fresh, and the wildlife abundant. We love it here. I fill my time with writing articles for a weekly paper called the Coast Weekend. I have also taken up metal sculpture and I and my wife of 23 years still travel a lot. Submit = SubmitPete Adams

Life gets better every year, if one could just stop that aging process it would be great. I have been married for 38 years now. We have lived in Portland for over 20 years. We have lived in a number a places in the United States and for two years in Taipai, Taiwan. We had two sons, one lives in Minnesota with his second wife. His son, our grandson, lives here in Portland. Our grandson keeps us young by taking us to Disneyland every year, of course he expects his grandparents to foot the bill. Our second son died in an accident 13 years ago, but is not forgotten. I currently spent most of my working hours at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington where I spend my days teaching dental hygiene students. I love to travel, as does my husband thank goodness, enjoy the company of good friends, and find it challenging to cook up a gourmet meal.

Hi, everyone: After I left Madison I went to Willamette University where I received a Bachelor's degree in political science (it was totally useless). In July of 1965 I entered the U.S. Navy and, subsequently, became a Naval Flight Officer. After I finished the next five years as same, having spent three deployments in Vietnam, I received permission for "extended leave" from the Navy to return to dear old Willamette. This time, however, it was to law school.
To make a long story short -- I finished my career in the Navy as a Capt. I am now retired (sort of) but, because my wife is still fully employed, I have taken a really fun job at the Spirit Mountain Casino.
Hope to see you at the reunion.Richard (Rick) Armstrong

After graduating from Madison I moved to Southern California where I've lived on and off for the past 41 years. I graduated with a degree in marketing from the University of California at Berkley. Joined the Navy, flew F-4's in Vietnam, married my lovely wife (Lynda Bryan) in April 1970, discharged from the Navy as a Lieutenant-Commander in December 1972 and started my business career in the insurance business working for Safeco Insurance Company. Started my own business in 1976 and have been self-employed to some extent ever since. Lynda and I have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls) and 10 grandchildren (7 girls and 3 boys). We've lived in Mission Viejo since 1972 and all of our children live within 5 miles of us, so we get plenty of baby sitting time with all the grandkids.
I've had two heart attacks in the last 12 years, but for whatever His reason my Lord Jesus Christ has seen fit to keep me here on this globe for a while longer. My wife and I enjoy traveling and cruising is one of our favorite ways to see the world. I've recently partnered with a friend to start an information marketing business which has been lots of fun. I have hopes that it will eventually even become profitable as well as fun.

I’ve been a construction electrician for 39 years. After finishing my apprenticeship in ’67 my wife (Karen Engelking) and I and our 2 children moved to The Dalles. After three years east of the mountains we decided to buy a home in Mosier. I have enjoyed quite a few different hobbies including boating, fishing, hunting, and horses. I guess I’ve come full circle, as now I’m back to building hot rods. We’re both planning to retire next year and are looking forward to spending winters on our property in Arizona.
I’m hoping some of the delinquents I ran around with will be showing up for the reunion. See you there. See Karen EnglekingSue (Baird) Campbell

Hi Everyone, I live at 70 E Aycliffe Dr., Shelton WA 98584. Work at Dept of Revenue, State of Wa. in Olympia, helping to do my part in collecting that darn sales tax. Haven't had the exciting life that some of you have had (like traveling all over the world) but I have been blessed in having a healthy, happy life, owning my own home in the trees, food on the table, etc. Above all, I have a wonderful son, Kurt (age 24), who I am extremely proud of. He graduated from Caltech in June and is now working at one of those unstable start-up dot.com companies in Santa Monica, Ca. I spend most of my time walking (volksport), gardening, reading and yes, Judy, ceramics, porcelain and raku. If anyone in Portland area volkswalks, get ahold of me and I can meet you on a walk. I go to Portland frequently and try to plan my trips down there with a walk. You are still invited, Phil. At this time, I don't know if I will attend the reunion or not. It would be great to see everyone, but my social graces are not up to par. All the more reason for me to go, huh? See? Just like high school, I haven't changed much. I just don't get into trouble like I used to.

I’m currently between addresses at the moment: I’m living in Preston, Lancashire, England but my (second) husband whom I've been married to for 20 years and I will be moving to New Mexico soon. I’ve been away from the U.S. for eighteen years so the move back is going to be interesting. I’ve lived and worked all over the U.S. and in Iran, Saudi Arabia, England, and the Sultanate of Oman, as well as travelling extensively as a tourist. I’ve been a secretary, a bookkeeper and, for the past 20 years, a systems analyst and a computer consultant (mainframes). I’m currently, but perhaps temporarily, retired.
UPDATE:: I've just moved back to the States (New Mexico) after twenty years working overseas. To be honest, I'm in culture shock on re-entry. I'm currently looking for a retirement job (not in computers), but not very hard.

Well, what can you say after 40 years... I've had about as quiet of a life as they come. I'm still married to husband #1. Charlie and I will celebrate 38 years in September. We have a daughter (36) who lives in Vancouver, WA. with her husband and the worlds two most wonderful daughters. They are the light of our lives and now that we are retired, we spend as much time as possible with them... We have a son Steven (32) who has chosen to stay in Alaska and works in the lumber industry (well, what little is left of it). Charlie and I moved here 36 years ago and guess we will die here..It's so beautiful, but isolated. Ketchikan is on an island in south east Alaska. We have about 30 miles of road, but we are fast heading towards civilization. They just installed our 4th stop light. We needed it to access our new Wal-mart that opens this week. Last week we opened a Blockbuster. Along with Safeway, the McD's and Burger King it's starting to look like the lower 48..and we all moved here to get away from that! I'm sure there is a lesson in there somewhere.
Anyway, I've been a stay at home Mom and full time volunteer (Scouts, swim team, assorted schools, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Planning and Zoning Commission, etc.) for the last 36 years. It's the end of the page, so it must be time to stop. As we will be in Vancouver in May and June, I'll see if an extra two weeks can be arranged for the reunion.

Just in case any of the class should remember the gal that came in about November of the senior year after doing most of High School in Germany, I am she. And I also give a special thanks to those who helped me pass chemistry!
From High School, I attended Lutheran Bible Institute (now Trinity Lutheran College), Seattle, WA. It was there I met my rancher-husband. A week after graduation we married and celebrated our 38th anniversary yesterday. We have three children, all married and five grandchildren. We served the World Mission Prayer League from 1965-1987 although not continuously. Bolivia, South America was our home for fifteen of those years.
It was adventuresome in many ways: Traveling on land at altitudes of 13,000-17,000 ft. above sea level; initially, cooking and baking on a wood stove; water availability was from the ditch or rain water; electricity was available when the water was clear enough to power the water-powered generator.
I did some medical work including a few sutures and one delivery; taught music to some Junior High students; taught in the Bible School; together we managed a Mission guest house and a radio station and I was involved in the bookkeeping for those institutions.
And for the last fifteen years we have lived in the Portland-Vancouver area trying to get accustomed to life in the US. I presently work as a full-time temp for CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing, Inc.) in Gresham.
My desire is that all of you consider the two eternal Destiny's and that you would all choose to accept the Truth of the gospel, repent and receive forgiveness of sins and join me in the Christian faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is "The Way, The Truth, and The Life". My husbands company then went through a downsize and so I went back to work, onto college, became a Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner, then back to college and certified in Human Resource Management and went to work for a risk management company. I provided backup support to employers in all phases of management. I also put on training programs in management and did investigative work in sensitive issues like racial and sexual harassment discrimination claims. I handled unemployment hearings and a lot more.

I can't believe it has been 40 yrs since graduation, I think someone has made a mistake. Although when I see my white hair I am pretty sure no mistake has been made.

My travels like many of you have taken me around the world. My most memorable travel took me to the former Soviet Union where I worked on four American Embassies. I'm pretty much a homebody but think that one of these days we'll load Corgie into the motor home and make the great American Odessey.Douglas F Donelson
Hello old friends!!(or should I say more mature friends?) Wow, how time has flown!! Out of high school, I went to Portland State for a while, but did not graduate.I've had a varied occupational, but interesting life. I've been married 3 times, the third being the charm! I have been married to Nancy for 27 years, and have five children, most of whom live in Gresham, where we live. We have 8 grandchildren which keep us very busy. Lots of sports stuff going on weekends!
Nancy and I met on a blind date, and to this day, I'm not sure which of us was more blind!! Really,it has been a great relationship which has grown day by day! We have had our trials, as have many of us over the years. Nancy was an 8 year cancer survivor until January of this year, and has just finished her chemotherapy, and will now start radiation therapy, for Lymphoma. We have found we had a lot of friends in common, as she went to Milwaukie High '61. Note: Doug's lovely wife Nancy lost her courageous battle and went to heaven on 3/7/03.
For the last 7 years, I've been with a small local company which manufactures laminated panel products for the cabinetmaking industry. I'm now in sales, after being plant manager for 5 years. My home phone is 503-665-9872. Would like to hear from anyone, and will be at the reunion!Tom Dorsey

I guess I kind of did things backwards. I spent my first years after graduation mainly in career things. After teaching for 7 years in Santa Barbara I returned to University of Washington to get my PhD degree. I then taught at University of Pittsburgh, University of Vermont and University of Portland until 1983. In 1983 I left and worked for the Northwest Regional ESD for 10 years and am now with the Beaverton School District as a Research Analyist.
I finally got married seven years ago and along with my husband I got his son, who is now 12. So when all the rest of the classmates are having grandchildren, I am going through the parent days. I really do enjoy every minute of him.
Career wise I have done a variety of things, including starting the StRUT program, which is a computer refurbishing program for high school students. I also have been state director of the Intel Science and Engineering Fair. In 2000 I was chosen educator of the year by the Business-Education compact.
Greg and I love to travel. We have been to Singapore, Thialand, Hong Kong, Spain, the Canary Islands, and Norway. In addition, on business I have gone to Korea, Guam, The Netherlands and Jamica. Every year we spend spring vacation at Kona Village in Hawaii.
Looking forward to the reunion.Tom Duncan

After Madison, graduated PSU in business in'67. Needed the extra year to ski the Western States. Did 2 yrs. in sales/marketing for Lipton, then went into family businesses in same capacity. These were Rhodes Bakery Equip., Rhodes Refrigeration, and Rhodes Bake-N-Serv. These were started by my grandfather who died in 1980. I then went on to form an ad agency, bought two shoe stores in Palm Springs, formed a limo business and produced a rock band. I sold all of these over the years, except the bakery equipment business.
In July of '98 I had neuro surgery and then in Oct. of '98 I was in a near-fatal auto accident and spent a month in the ICU of OHSU. I have since decided to slow up a bit. My 37 Yr. old daughter, Jan, works for me now, after a degree in Criminal Justice, and being a juvenile counselor for 10 yrs.
I have been married twice, then single for 19 yrs., and now married again for four yrs. to Faye, who is a native of Honolulu and of Asian descent. She is Vice-President of Key Bank in Lake Oswego. We have both traveled quite a bit over the years, but now we enjoy a home in Palm Desert when we can get away. Our home here, is on Bull Mtn. near Tigard.
I still attempt to play golf here at Redtail and at Indian Wells CC (home of the Bob Hope Classic). Faye enjoys gardening, plus we both enjoy swimming. We are looking forward to retiring soon and enjoy Winters in the warm Southwest desert.

Met a great woman somewhere in there and have been married for over 31 (32?) years. Its been really fine. We have 2 great kids, Jason 30 and Amy 28.
OK, a travelog: Hawaii, Phillipines, Japan, Hong Kong, Midway Island, Kure Island, and more. In our 31+ years we have moved 28 times within Oregon, from Friend to Talent and most everywhere in between. We've had a very interesting life, including living off the power grid and without running water for a few years.
I was a carpenter most my life, but my aged body broke down, and I magically became a building inspector and building plans examiner. I now work for Washington Co. as a commercial plans examiner, doing a lot of work with Nike and Intel.

I spent a few semesters at PSU then worked 40 plus years for BNSF Railroad. Retired at age 60. I taught skiing on weekends to kids mostly for 22 years. Now skiing a couple of times a week with buddies at Timberline. I sometimes repair and refinish furniture with an old railroad friend who has an upholstery biz. The rest of the time is spent at the gym or lazing around the yard or doing nothing. Recently my wife of 44 plus years has retaken skiing to heart and comes up with us on occasion. Hi folks. Since reading other's entries, I feel I should give a history of my life; however, much of my life changes and happenings have been internal. I have always been a student of the human condition, am now practicing Buddhism, playing music and writing songs and doing my own version of "art work". I currently work in social service research for Multnomah County and have had other very interesting and rewarding social service jobs. I married Doug Prescott right out of high school and have two children from that marriage.
I married a second time in 1988. I have been single again since 1991. Actually, I have been single most of my adult life. I have lived in Seattle, Great Falls, Fresno, St. Louis but there's no place like good old Portland.
My travels have been limited to the US; however, I will be vacationing in Costa Rica this summer and looking at it as a possible home for retirement. It seems strange to be thinking of retirement because I feel as young as I did in high school. Life has been interesting. I am looking forward to connecting with old friends and making new ones at the reunion.R Robin Fritchman

Hi Friends/classmates: I'm late sending this bio info--apparently I was lost but now I'm found. I graduated from Portland State after a couple of detours(U.S.Coast Guard and U.S.P.O.)and then went up on "the hill" to U of O Dental School. I've been a Dentist for the past 30 years in various modes.
For fun and exercise, my wife Suzie and I play racquetball. For the challenge, and because she can beat me, we play golf.
Between us we have four kids and three grandkids. Mine are two boys and a one year old grand-daughter and hers are a boy and girl and six year old grand-daughter and a one year old grandson.
When I see you all at the reunion, I hope you're wearing a name tag (with large letters) because I'm afraid if you're like me, the pictures(faces) in my brain may not match up with the current ones.Jim Gilbert

Greetings to everyone! I missed having a 35th reunion and look forward to seeing you all soon. I've had many adventures since Madison, enough to write a book about. Protested the Vietnam War, learned to build boats in Maine, had my own fishing boat and worked up and down the Pacific coast , had 4 kids, the youngest now 15 and still at home, and in 1979, started a nursery business in Hood River.
Now I live between Liberal and Needy (really) which are old community names for the region between Molalla and Canby. We grow a lot of neat plants, some of which I brought from the former Soviet Union, where I began travelling to in 1990, taking advantage of the great language instruction I received from Mrs. McDonald. I finally got my BS in Russian in 1997 at PSU.

bbwt@aol.comI will be in Portland but have not decided if I will attend the reunion. I attended the Vestal reunion a few years ago but have never attended a Madison reunion. Of course, I will be at a distinct disadvantage, not only is age induced weaker eyesight working against me. Let's face it, name tag, no name tag, yearbook picture or no picture, I still stand out in most crowds and unless you were in our classes and got to know each of us, I will be mistaken for Eileen Glymph. Oh, well.
Now on with my brief uninteresting update. Graduated, attended Portland State for 3 years, decided I was tired of going to school and quit. Went to work for telephone company, married and had a daughter. Transferred to C&P telephone in Washington D. C. Lived there for four years. Husband was a Senate Police Officer, patronage position compliments of Senator Wayne Morse, remember him...changed parties two times. Quit phone company, worked for Nat'l Assoc. of Security Dealers supervising the file room. Husband accepted a position in mid management with banking industry and we relocated to Richmond, CA.
I worked as Exec Director of a non-profit investigating complaints of housing discrimination. Husband accepted position with a small minority owned bank as senior loan officer so we moved to Los Angeles where I have been since 1971. I worked briefly at UCLA in Financial Aids office, saw Sharon Barr there in 1973, she was on her way to England. I am glad to see she made it. I went to work for the City of Los Angeles two weeks before Tom Bradley took office. I will retire from the City as soon as my sister (Harriet Glosson Adair) retires from Portland Public School district. We plan to hang out together in our older age.
Most of my time with the City was at the Department of Airports where I developed and mangaged a contracting program designed to increase the number of women and minority owned businesses contracting with the airport. As a result of this position, I have traveled quite a bit across the country. Got lots of recognition in connection with the position and the success of the program. As a result, I worked in Bradley's Office of Economic Devleopment during his last term. Got to organize and go on two trade missions to Mexico. Was planning a mission to Costa Rica when the 1992 civil unrest hit and that ended the mission.
I am currently working for the Community Development Dept as a senior manager in a division responsible for providing social service programs to city residents. Along the way, I have worked as a budget analyst, (those of you who were in any of my math classes can appreciate the irony..I still can't balance a check book. Worked for DWP as a 'bill collector' (pay or off go your lights..lots of good stories from that position) got my BA from University of Redlands in Public Adminsitration. Lots of certificated classes but can't quite make the commitment to a Masters.
Divorced...did it myself..so much for needing an attorney..didn't try again. My daughter bought a house then realized how much effort it takes so promptly moved me into it. She is attending UCLA and will obtain her degree in Cultural Anthropology this fall. She is a certified massage therpist.
I have had several "home based businesses" mostly centering around consulting of one sort or another. My latest ventures include being a partner in a public utility, starting (just last week) a power plant, and providing legal services. I will have to give my email at a later date so those who are so inclined can check it out.
While you were touring and living all over the world, I was busy meeting some very intersting and influential people like Ron Brown, before he became Sec of Commerce and met an untimely death, Cisenros, before he went to Washington, Kennard, the past head of FCC, most of the California and some of the Oregon political figures and THE Johnnie Cochran..he actually was my "boss" for 12 years.
Looks like our education at Madison has stood us all in good stead. Hats off to all the teachers, instructors, mentors, and friends who educated us in spite of our efforts to the contrary. If I get to the Elks, when I walk in, I know you will all know me.. like I said at the beginning...you have a distinct advantage over me so WEAR THOSE BADGES AND PICTURES.

After graduating Madison in 1961 I went into the US Army. After serving for 3 years (2 in Germany) I was discharged at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, at which time I lived in Louisville until 1989. I attended the University of Louisville where I received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil and Structural Engineering. I started my first business while a student at U. of Louisville.
I met my first wife in Louisville while in the army. We had a daughter (Lila Ann, age 30) who lives in Pensacola. My first wife died of cancer. My second (and current) wife Beverly (Dodge, also from Louisiville) and I have been married over 23 years now and have a son, Jimmie III, age 21 yrs., who is a Junior at the University of Central Florida. Beverly has a son (Tim, age 41) by a previous marriage who lives with his wife and daughter in Yardley, PA....so, we have "yours, mine an ours".
Beverly and I moved to Florida to retire to our Beach property in 1989 after selling several businesses we owned related to the design and construction industry. We now live in Pensacola. I hated retirement and gladly went back to work, whereby I am currently a Region Vice President responsible for the Southeastern United States for an International Engineering & Architectural Firm. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the summary of your life since high school days. It is hard to believe that many of us will soon be 60 years old. Hard to believe that it has been 40 years since we all bid Madison adieu. As I was unable to attend the last reunion, I look forward to seeing my "old" classmates at the upcoming event.
Within a few years of graduation from high school, I ended up in the printing industry and spent 35 years selling and marketing business forms. About a year ago I decided it was time for a change, took some time off to ponder the future and recently started up my own "handyman" business under the name of Hart Enterprises.
I still live in Portland and enjoy frequent trips to Bend and the coast for R&R. I also play golf to stay humble and spend a fair amount of time with my 7 grandchilren (#8 is on the way). What a pleasure it is to watch them all grow and have the opportunity to influence them in a hopefully positive way.

After I left Madison, I spent 3 years at Oregon State University. I became interested in the infant computer industry. Learned all about programing and worked for 34 years as a programmer analyst / systems analyst. I have been married to a very wonderful wife for 36 years. Ten children, 4 girls and 6 boys, and two adopted girls. At the present we have 14 grandchildren with another coming in May. I am retired now and enjoying my own time doing things that I want to do. It's great being out of the work rat race. It is now time for my wife and I to travel and enjoy ourselves.Kristine (Hogerton) Bresnehan

After Madison, I went to Portland State, taught grade school for 8 years, married Bill McCoy, had 2 kids, and started moving. I could tell of all the excitement of living in Tacoma (endless rain), east of Vancouver (raising pygmy goats), and Coos Bay (great oyster sandwiches). But I'll skip those exotic places and just say I'm glad we settled back in Portland (4 blocks from where I grew up).
Our oldest son Dan went to middle school in my old grade school, Glenhaven and then on to high school at Madison. Our second son Mike was two years younger so I had six years ('89-'95) of going to activities-open houses, plays, concerts, sports programs at my old school. My sons were much more outgoing and talented than their mom had been. I always wondered if there were any other second generation Senators from our class. We now live farther out in SE Portland, and for the past ten years I have been working at Willamette Industries in downtown.
During the past 40 years nothing has had a greater impact in my life than my spiritual quest. In high school I was a Christian, but at Portland State I came to believe the Bible was for the unintelligent and fell away from my faith. In my twenties I looked at other religions, but they were no answer for me, so I ended up serving only myself. In my early thirties I rediscovered my treasure (Matthew 13:44), My Lord Jesus Christ. He alone gives me God. The Bible? God is infinitely intelligent. People are not. His Word is the light to my way. I am now growing older and then finally old with my Savior, Lord, and Friend. I could not have anything better.Julie Ann (Hurd) Remmerde
